Electrotherapy - What is it?
Electrotherapy is the use of electrical energy for the treatment of impairments of health by the application of electrical means. By applying electrical forces to the body a physiological response is created causing change to the tissues for a therapeutic benefit. There are many conditions which respond favourably to electrotherapy:
Indications
- decrease muscle spasms
- muscle tension headaches
- first or second degree sprain/strain (neck, back, thorax, extremities)
- low back and other muscular pain conditions
- increase joint mobility
- break or stretch myofascial and periarticular adhesions (adhesive capsulitis)
