Soft Tissue Therapy
Soft tissue therapy (STT) is the assessment, treatment and management of soft tissue injury, pain and dysfunction primarily of the neuromusculoskeletal system. Soft tissue includes muscles, tendons, ligaments, fascia, nerves, fibrous tissues, fat, blood vessels and synovial membranes.
Patients undergo their initial examination and at this time soft tissue problems are noted. Depending on the tissue involved and its degree of involvement their are many types of treatment options available.
Treatment types for soft tissue recovery include, myofascial trigger point therapy, some massage techniques, cross fiber techniques, PNF (propriceptive neuromuscular fascilitation) and active stretching.
